Our client, a leading multinational in the plastics-related products industry, is looking to hire a Plant General Manager / Country Manager based in Paris.
This is a rare dual-role position combining:

Factory leadership as Plant Director / Plant General Manager (full responsibility for manufacturing performance), and
-
Country leadership as Country Manager (overall business leadership and representation for the country within a multinational matrix).

Role mission
Lead the end-to-end performance of the factory (safety, quality, production, cost, people, continuous improvement) while also acting as Country Manager, ensuring the company’s overall performance and alignment with regional/global strategy.
You will operate at the intersection of manufacturing excellence and general management, driving operational execution, people leadership, financial performance, and stakeholder management in a multinational environment.
Key responsibilities
Plant Director / Factory General Management

Own full P&L performance of the plant (cost, productivity, capex discipline, efficiency and delivery).

Lead manufacturing operations: production planning/execution, maintenance, engineering, industrialization, and operational excellence.

Drive HSE leadership with a zero-incident culture and strict compliance with multinational standards.

Ensure quality excellence (customer requirements, audits, corrective actions, continuous improvement).

Implement and sustain Lean / CI programs (OEE, scrap reduction, downtime reduction, throughput improvement).

Lead workforce strategy: organization, talent development, succession, and cultural transformation.
Country Manager / Business Leadership

Act as the senior country leader and company representative in the market.

Align local execution with regional/global strategy, ensuring governance and compliance.

Lead and influence cross-functional stakeholders (commercial, finance, HR, supply chain, corporate functions) in a matrix structure.

Own key local relationships and stakeholder management (internal and external as applicable).

Provide clear reporting and performance management: KPIs, dashboards, cadence, and executive-level communication.
Ideal profile

10–15+ years of leadership experience in industrial/manufacturing environments within multinational companies.

Proven track record as Plant Manager / Factory Director / Operations GM with strong outcomes in safety, quality, cost, and productivity.

Demonstrated ability to operate as a General Manager (business-oriented mindset beyond the factory gates).

Strong leadership style: high accountability, execution focus, and ability to lead through influence in complex matrix organizations.

Strong analytical and KPI-driven approach; structured problem-solving; change management capability.

Experience with Lean/CI methodologies and operational systems (ERP/plant performance tools; SAP is a plus).
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial, Business, or similar.
